I have some large old trees in my back yard. I love the shade they give. they are so nice to have summer picnics under, and the kids love climbing the trees. I really want to keep them healthy. I have been looking at mulching around the base to keep the trees healthy and happy. How do you know what kind of mulch is the best? I like to make my old mulch with clipping from the yard. Is that an okay practice?

It actually sounds like it would make the tree more healthy and keep it from getting infected. I think it would be smart to call a tree service to have the tree mulched.
